Wow,very sad. It's not been a good week in New England.

Unfortunately this is more often than not the case during holiday weekends/weeks when there's usually a greater number of people on a trail who often ski very little nowadays. Higher trail volume + lower actual vs. perceived ability is often the recipe for something tragic :(

Someone dies at Stratton, they're NOT that great a skier. Occasionally seen are skiers from the urban setting is the inflated illusion of what usually makes for being "accomplished" is being able to ski fast, as in driving fast outside of a racetrack. NOT that accomplished in either setting. Think "Inflated Head/Ego" can be inserted somewhere in the story.

Sounds like a great guy..

"We are just trying to figure out what we are going to do without him right now. He had an extraordinary work ethic and brilliant mind but never took himself too seriously," said Sternlicht, adding he was still somewhat in shock at the loss of his protege.

Hendee, who's described as having an impish grin and huge smile that attracted people instantly to him, didn't wear his success on his sleeve. He sat in the middle of Starwood's office with the rest of Greenwich crew -- around 100 people -- and took time out to mentor Starwood's new, fresh-out-of-college blood .

Hendee, as a football star at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, suffered a hip injury and while told he might not run again, went on to race in triathlons.

Dork, what are the injury rates & types like for the KMS freestyle program?

Any issues with the inverted aerials or do the progressions & water ramps add up to pretty good safety?

I don't have any hard and fast facts available. This season I've seen a rib injury during a rail jam. Also a broken femur in the bumps, and a knee

AFA inverts, IMHO the progression/ramps does help to lessen the chance of injury. Iceman wants to try to get backflip qualified next season, he's got to do 100 in the pool before they'll even look at him on snow.

I happened to be reading the liability language on the back of various tickets the other day. I noticed that inverted aerials are specifically called out as prohibited at the largest areas.
